Modern translations of portions of the New Testament but based on the so-called Received Text of "Textus Receptus". Virtually all 20th Century versions, except the NKJV, abandoned the TR in favour of the late 19th Century revised text based on the work of Westcott and Hort. Disregarding the evidence of the overwhelming majority of extant manuscripts, these two scholars compiled their revised text largely from a small group of 4th Century Alexandrian manuscripts, that display strong Gnostic influences. The result was a revised Greek text that differs in over 5,000 places from the TR.
